About The Position

Join Cottonwood Modern Dentistry as a Dental Assistant in Training. You will learn basic dental assisting functions under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist, while building skills and experience with the team. The role supports patient care, infection control, radiography after state radiation-safety requirements are completed, and patient education and documentation.

Requirements

No prior dental experience is required.

Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
Participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by learning to keep patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns.
Learn and complete infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection to protect patients and team members.
Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures at the dentist’s direction, only after completing all state requirements regarding radiation safety.
Prepare for patient care procedures, including preparing the patient and procedure tray, providing basic supportive chairside assistance, and ensuring the patient is handed off to the front desk for a follow-up appointment.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
Present treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before patient treatment.
Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
