About The Position

Ballard Modern Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant in Training who will learn new skills while working with experienced dental professionals. Under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist, the trainee will learn and perform basic dental assisting functions permitted by applicable state requirements. The role supports patient care, infection control, procedure preparation, chairside assistance, patient education, and accurate digital charting while following applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
• Learn to support the Perfect Patient Experience by helping patients stay focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.
• Learn and complete infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection to help ensure patient and team member safety.
• Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures at the dentist’s direction only after completing all state requirements regarding radiation safety.
• Prepare for patient care procedures, including preparing patients and procedure trays, providing basic chairside support, and handing patients off to the front desk for follow-up appointments.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
• Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
• Present treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before patient treatment.
• Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR requirements.
