About The Position

Melbourne Smiles Dentistry is hiring a Dental Assistant in Training. The role provides opportunities to learn dental assisting skills under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. The trainee supports patient care, infection control, treatment preparation, documentation, and patient education while following applicable state requirements and other regulations.

Requirements

No prior dental experience is required.

Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties, under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
Learn to contribute to the Perfect Patient Experience by helping patients stay focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.
Learn and complete infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection.
Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures at the dentist’s direction, only after completing all state requirements regarding radiation safety.
Prepare for patient care procedures, including preparing patients and procedure trays, providing basic chairside support, and ensuring patients are handed off to the front desk for follow-up appointments.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
Present treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before patient treatment.
Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
