Delivery Operations Manager
About The Position
The Delivery Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a service center, including its yard, fleet, and field activity. The role partners closely with the General Manager to improve safety, customer experience, and operational efficiency, ensuring reliable propane delivery and regulatory compliance. The manager coordinates routing and dispatch, maintains equipment and facilities, leads safety compliance efforts, and supports hiring and employee development. The position divides time among the office, yard, and field, including outdoor equipment inspections and work alongside the team in active service conditions and varied weather.
Requirements
- Experience overseeing operations in propane, energy, logistics, or a closely related field.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, ideally involving hazardous materials.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team and improving operational performance.
- Ability to manage routing, dispatch, or fleet operations.
- Strong communication skills to work across drivers, leadership, and customers.
Nice To Haves
- Experience specifically in propane operations.
- Background in route optimization tools or fleet management systems.
- Experience supporting sales or customer retention efforts.
- Experience conducting safety training or certification programs.
- Track record of improving asset utilization or operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day service center operations, including the yard, fleet, and field activity.
- Partner with the General Manager to improve safety, customer experience, and efficiency.
- Coordinate routing and dispatch.
- Maintain equipment and facilities.
- Lead safety compliance efforts and ensure certifications, training, and compliance requirements are current, tracked, and enforced.
- Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and development of team members.
- Assess routes and implement improvements in delivery efficiency or on-time performance.
- Review routing plans and dispatch processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Build relationships with team members and communicate expectations and feedback.
