About The Position

The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients and supplies, prepares products, handles telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans the equipment and facility. The role includes delivering products by car to customers, as well as distributing flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves working in varied store conditions, including temperature changes, hot surfaces, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, and moving or sharp equipment. Most tasks are performed standing, with walking between the store, vehicle, and customer locations. Duties also involve lifting and carrying supplies and food, driving, pushing or pulling trays, and occasionally climbing stairs or ladders. Delivery routes may require navigating adverse terrain and five or more flights of stairs.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
Ability to understand and give correct written instructions.
Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by phone and in person.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly and make correct monetary change.
Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
Motor coordination to make rapid, accurate movements with the eyes, hands, and fingers.
Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the delivery area.
Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
Ability to work independently and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality standards, and make judgments and decisions.
Ability to lift and handle cases weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and occasional climbing.

Responsibilities

Operate all equipment.
Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, the work area, and the walk-in cooler.
Prepare products.
Receive and process telephone orders.
Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
Deliver products by car to customers’ doors within the designated delivery area.
Deliver flyers and door hangers.
Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock supplies on shelves.
Navigate delivery sites, including multi-story buildings and private homes.
