About The Position

Ryder is hiring a non-CDL truck driver to deliver auto parts solo on regional routes within an 80-mile radius of Syracuse, New York. Drivers operate 16-, 22-, or 26-foot box trucks and may handle touch freight. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role. Trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The schedule is Monday through Friday with no weekends, a 6:00–7:00 a.m. start time, and 40 or more hours per week. Pay is weekly, with advertised earnings of $1,400 per week, $0.40 per solo mile, and $12.00 per solo stop. Paid training is provided. Ryder describes the position as a company-driver opportunity with autonomy on the road and support behind the scenes.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have at least six months of verifiable driving experience, meeting one of the stated timeframes: six months within the past three years, two years within the past five years, or five years within the past ten years.
• For a straight-truck or box-truck position, have qualifying experience operating like equipment.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor-vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a vehicle while complying with safety regulations, ongoing training requirements, and customer-service expectations.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
