About The Position

The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products such as meats and cheeses, while maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the deli and assisting Members. The role provides customer service, answers questions and recommends products, takes special orders, and helps Members make purchasing decisions. It also involves receiving, inspecting, stocking, rotating, and storing products in accordance with food-safety, freshness, handling, and quality standards; operating deli equipment safely; and cleaning and sanitizing deli equipment and surfaces. Required availability is mid day through evening. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function. The position may also perform other duties, including working in other departments as needed.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department.
• Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales.
• Knowledge of deli products.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service to Members; answer questions, recommend deli items, respond to calls, and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including meats and cheeses; help Members select products, offer samples, and prepare special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments; display, stock, rotate, and store products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling policies.
• Check products daily for expiration and follow product salvage policies and procedures.
• Keep deli cooler shelves and display cases stocked with a wide variety of fresh products.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are working and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, organized environment.
• Perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Work collaboratively to meet club standards, maintain accurate signage, and execute stocking and promotional plans.
