About The Position

The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products, including meats and cheeses, and helps Members with product selection, questions, and special orders. The role maintains the freshness, quality, presentation, and cleanliness of deli products, display cases, equipment, and work surfaces while following food-safety, product-handling, and company procedures. The position also supports club-wide service and operating standards and may perform duties in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Able to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; lifting and moving heavier or awkward objects may be required with assistance.
• Able to frequently move about on hard surfaces and occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, stoop, or position oneself to examine or scan merchandise.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department.
• Experience operating manual or power slicers and scales.
• Knowledge of deli products.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service; answer questions, recommend deli items, answer Member calls, and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including meats and cheeses; help Members select products, offer samples, and prepare special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments; display, stock, rotate, and store products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling procedures.
• Check products daily for freshness and expiration dates, and follow product salvage procedures as appropriate.
• Maintain a variety of products on deli cooler shelves and in display cases, stocking and rotating items as needed.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are working and products are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, organized deli department.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, and full attendance.
• Support club standards, including accurate signage, stocked items, executed promotional plans, and a clean and organized environment.
• Work collaboratively, act with honesty and integrity, maintain a positive attitude, and address or escalate Member concerns appropriately.
