About The Position

The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products such as meats and cheeses; maintains the presentation and cleanliness of the deli and its display cases; and assists Members. The position provides customer service, answers questions, recommends deli items, takes calls and special orders, and prepares samples, special orders, and party trays. It also receives, inspects, displays, stocks, rotates, and stores deli products according to food safety, freshness, handling, and quality policies. The Deli Clerk operates deli equipment safely, maintains equipment and food surfaces, and ensures items are weighed and priced accurately. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department.
• Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales.
• Knowledge of deli products.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service, answer questions, recommend deli items, answer Member calls, and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including meats and cheeses; help Members select products; provide samples; and prepare special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments, and display, stock, rotate, and store products according to food safety, freshness, handling, and product quality procedures.
• Check for out-of-date products daily and follow product salvage policies and procedures.
• Maintain a wide variety of products on deli cooler shelves and in display cases; stock and rotate deli items as needed.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are working and products are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support a safe, positive, inclusive environment and deliver service and club standards through teamwork, accountability, and a friendly, positive attitude.
