About The Position

The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products such as meats and cheeses; maintains the presentation and cleanliness of deli displays and work areas; and assists Members in the deli department. The role provides customer service, answers questions, recommends products, takes calls and special orders, and prepares special orders and party trays. It also includes receiving, inspecting, displaying, stocking, rotating, and storing deli products in accordance with food-safety, freshness, handling, and quality procedures; operating deli equipment safely; and keeping equipment and food surfaces clean and sanitized. The position requires regular, predictable, full attendance and may include duties in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department.
• Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales.
• Knowledge of deli products.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service; answer Member questions, recommend deli items, respond to calls, and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including meats and cheeses; help Members select products and offer samples to support purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments; display, stock, rotate, and store deli products in accordance with food-safety, freshness, and handling procedures.
• Ensure products are fresh and meet company quality standards; check for out-of-date products daily and follow product salvage procedures.
• Maintain a wide variety of products on deli cooler shelves and in display cases, stocking and rotating items as needed.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are in working order and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Follow club policies and procedures and support a safe, positive, inclusive environment for Members and team members.
• Contribute to daily GOLD Member and Club Standards, including friendly service, accurate signage, stocked items, promotional execution, and clean, organized areas.
• Access and read department production and/or financial performance reporting and understand how execution affects the business.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
