About The Position

The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products such as meats and cheeses, and assists Members with product selection, questions, calls, and special orders. The role prepares special orders and party trays, samples products to support purchasing decisions, and helps maintain a well-stocked deli with fresh products and attractive, clean display cases.

The Deli Clerk receives and inspects shipments; displays, stocks, rotates, and stores products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling procedures; checks for outdated products; and follows salvage policies. The position operates deli equipment and scale systems safely, verifies accurate weighing and pricing, and cleans and sanitizes equipment and food-contact surfaces throughout the department. The role also follows club policies, supports work in other departments as needed, and requires regular, predictable, full attendance.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Work experience in a deli department is preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales is preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products is preferred.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; lifting and moving heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds may be required with assistance.
• Occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, or stoop while examining or scanning merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service; answer Member questions and recommend deli items.
• Answer Member calls and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including meats and cheeses, and help Members select products.
• Sample products to assist with purchasing decisions; prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments; display, stock, rotate, and store products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling procedures.
• Ensure products are fresh and meet company quality standards; check daily for out-of-date products and follow product salvage procedures.
• Maintain a wide variety of products on deli cooler shelves and in display cases; stock and rotate items as needed.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are working and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support a safe, positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment; address or escalate Member concerns as appropriate.
• Contribute to daily GOLD Member and club standards, including friendly service, stocked items, executed promotional plans, accurate signage, and clean, organized spaces.
• Understand how to access and read department production and/or financial performance reporting and how consistent execution affects the business.
