Deli/Bakery Associate

About The Position

This role is responsible for independently preparing food and deli or bakery products, including frying, packaging, displaying, and stocking products, while contributing to the store’s financial interests. The associate is expected to meet company guest-experience guidelines and comply with safety and food-safety requirements. The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce bakery and deli products according to the production planner.
Package and label bakery and deli products according to the program plan.
Merchandise bakery and deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with bakery and deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
