About the position
The Datacenter Operations Engineer will be responsible for the configuration and installation of servers in the Hong Kong data center, as well as other data centers in the APAC region as needed. They will also assist customers with server installations and handle complex installations and customer projects. The role requires working 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support operations in Australia and Japan and be on call when needed. The engineer will report to the Managing Director APAC and should have at least one year of hands-on experience in a data center environment, knowledge of various operating systems, and basic network knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Installation, configuration, relocation, and removal of server equipment at the data center
- Assisting customers within data centers with their own racks/servers
- Upgrading/downgrading server equipment (memory/hard disks/etc.)
- Replacing hardware and handling relevant administrative matters
- Testing servers and server equipment in accordance with standards
- Working with remote hands partners within the APAC region to support installation and/or adjustment of servers
Requirements
- At least one year of hands-on experience working in a data center with servers
- Knowledge of various operating systems, especially Linux
- Knowledge of Hardware (Servers, Switches, KVM, Hard Drives, Memory etc.)
- Basic network knowledge (adjusting DNS/IP/Netmask/gateway/etc.)
- Certificate or degree in Computer Science or similar discipline preferably with an emphasis in Technology
- Professional and effective communication in English
