About The Position

The Data Entry Operator I is responsible for entering patient and specimen information into the laboratory information system. The position is in the Pathology Accessioning department in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a Monday-to-Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay starts at $17.20 per hour. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications where applicable, market factors, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Requirements

Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM or equivalent.
One year of work experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
English language required.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of word processing software.
Knowledge of Navinet and Emdeon systems.
Written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Verify requisitions for completeness of patient and client information.
Accurately enter patient and specimen information, including patient name, location, and site, into the laboratory information system.
Pull orders when applicable for clients using a bidirectional interface.
Verify patient names in Navinet, Emdeon, or other approved internet sites for cases without attached insurance cards and for illegible names.
Provide copies of illegible information or missing data to Client Services so they can contact the client.
May participate in training new staff members.
Understand and follow applicable standard operating procedures for job-related responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
