About the position
The job overview for this role is that Fictiv is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering & Analytics team. The team is responsible for developing a centralized data warehouse and producing reports and dashboards that provide strategic insights for various functional areas within the company. The Data Engineer will support the Data Engineering Lead, Data Analysts, and Product Owners in managing the data warehouse and ensuring that solutions address business problems. The role requires a strong understanding of data flows, SQL coding standards, and BI concepts, as well as the ability to optimize datasets and automate processes.
Responsibilities
- Understand end-to-end data flows and identify data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management
- Monitor, alert, and perform on-call duties for all data warehouse operations
- Follow and contribute to SQL coding standards, change control practices, and data warehouse practices
- Collaborate with Software Engineering and Product Owners to handle changes to event implementations in the data warehouse
- Work with remote teams
- Research, diagnose, and monitor performance bottlenecks
- Document development to be moved to production
- Assemble and modify large complex datasets to meet business requirements
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements for greater scalability and automation of manual processes
- Build BI reports to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics
- Create data tools for analytics and data team to optimize the product
- Assist stakeholders with data-related technical issues
- Have experience working with large and complex datasets and writing queries directly or utilizing BI tools
- Extensive knowledge of BI concepts, database query languages, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse design
- Ability to build and optimize datasets and data pipelines
- Perform root cause analysis on internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Excellent analytic skills associated with working with structured and unstructured datasets
- Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
- Clear communication skills to provide business context for engineers and highlight technical challenges for non-engineers
- Ability to present to groups of mixed technical ability
- Resourceful and able to resolve issues even when answers are not known
- Willingness to learn and understand new ways of doing things
- Preferred experience in Data Science, Data Analysis, or a related field
- 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer using BI tools
- 2 years of providing complex analysis reports in fields such as finance, sales, marketing, logistics, or user adoption
- Experience with specific BI tools such as Snowflake, Redshift, Heap, Fivetran, and SigmaComputing
- Proven experience working with complex datasets and writing SQL queries with multiple levels of CTEs directly

- Graduate in Data Science, Data Analysis, or related field (preferred)
- 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer using BI tools (preferred)
- 2 years of experience providing complex analysis reports in finance, sales, marketing, logistics, or similar fields (preferred)
- Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, Heap, Fivetran, and SigmaComputing (preferred)
- Proven experience working with complex datasets and writing SQL queries with multiple levels of CTEs directly (preferred)
