About the position
The job overview for the Data Center Technician I role at Core Scientific is to support the data center by completing preventative maintenance checks, addressing units in the repair queue, and bench testing resolved units. The role is important to the company as data center technicians are responsible for monitoring the performance of every miner and ensuring the smooth operation of the data center. The technician will also be involved in equipment maintenance, cable running, equipment racking, proactive monitoring, asset management, troubleshooting, and maintaining documentation. Other responsibilities include processing hardware RMA's, working with the ticketing system, and keeping the data center and repair center clean and organized.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of data center equipment
- Running cables: copper, fiber
- Equipment racking: PDU (including temp/humid sensors), network gear, servers
- Proactive monitoring of all production systems, including remote hands support when required
- Creation and maintenance of cohesive and accurate data center hardware map, including asset management for all ancillary hardware
- Provide first level troubleshooting and support services for client servers and network devices, as well as correction and routing/escalation when situations require
- Maintenance of company databases with accurate/current information
- Processing of all hardware RMA's
- Work with corporate ticketing system
- Maintenance of documentation
- Following all stated policies and procedures
- Keeping the data center and repair center clean and organized
- Ensure all tools, workstations, and laptops are kept in order and neat
- Help with deployment of machines (unboxing, racking etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in completing preventative maintenance checks in a data center
- Ability to diagnose and repair units in the repair queue
- Bench testing skills to ensure fixed units are functioning properly
- Knowledge of data center equipment maintenance
- Proficiency in running cables (copper, fiber)
- Familiarity with equipment racking (PDU, network gear, servers)
- Proactive monitoring of production systems and providing remote hands support
- Ability to create and maintain accurate data center hardware maps and asset management
- First level troubleshooting and support for client servers and network devices
- Maintenance of company databases and processing hardware RMA's
- Familiarity with corporate ticketing systems
- Documentation maintenance
- Adherence to policies and procedures
- Ability to keep the data center and repair center clean and organized
- Organizational skills to keep tools, workstations, and laptops in order
- Assistance with deployment of machines (unboxing, racking, etc.)
- Willingness to perform other assigned duties
