About The Position

Zenlayer Inc. is seeking Internet Data Center (IDC) Engineers/Technicians to be stationed at its data center in Downtown Los Angeles. This role requires physical strength and flexibility in shifts to ensure full IDC service coverage. The position involves working with servers, network hardware, copper and fiber infrastructure, data center product support applications, software configurations (Windows, Linux, SSH, RDP, Putty), and DCIM tools. Responsibilities include cabling, installation, and MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) for devices, maintaining a safe and secure operational environment, adhering to data protection protocols, managing asset inventory, providing smart-hands assistance within SLAs, reporting on data center service status, coordinating equipment logistics, and performing general cleaning. On-call duties and travel for on-site support or deployment may be required.

Requirements

  • Must be action oriented – understand task priority and the urgency of meeting deadlines.
  • Well-known who, when, how to troubleshoot networking systems onsite and hands-on hardware updates.
  • Team player mentality and passion for internet networking.
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (listen, speak, read, and write).
  • Knowledge of networking, servers and OS.
  • Understand TCP/IP.
  • Ability to use IDC hand tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at heights from a ladder and in noisy or confined space.
  • Ability to travel 20%+ of time when required.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to rotate shifts including holidays, off hours (i.e., graveyard shift), weekend and vacation.

  • More than 1 year of above IDC experience.
  • Previous managerial position in this category.

Responsibilities

  • Complete cabling and installation in server, router, switch according to work orders as well as MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) orders in designated data centers, including devices receiving, labeling, racking, powering and network connection, configuration, troubleshooting and break-fixing.
  • Maintain a safe and secure operation environment by reporting any violations to the direct supervisor, adhere to security and safety of data protection protocols, error logging practices and support operating procedures.
  • Maintain asset management and compliance with audit, daily log tracking, fulfilling documentation, retention practices and inventory checking.
  • Provide smart-hands assistance at various sites within specified SLA (Service Level Agreement) response time.
  • Provide status reporting regarding data center service availability, performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping and RMA processing support when required.
  • Provide general cleaning on raised floor, cabinet/rack exterior surfaces, work benches and other areas as needed on a regular basis.
  • On-call duties as needed.
  • Traveling for on-site service support or deployment when needed.
