About the position
Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Data Architect II to join their team, supporting the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). The primary responsibility of this role is to design and build relational databases for data storage or processing. The Data Architect II will develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery, as well as clean and maintain the database. They will also evaluate new data sources for adherence to quality standards and ease of integration. This position requires a minimum of 4 years of professional experience and knowledge/experience with VA EDW/CDW.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery.
- Clean and maintain the database by removing and deleting old data.
- Evaluate new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integration.
- Plan and accomplish goals relying on experience and judgment.
- Perform a variety of complicated tasks.
- May lead and direct the work of others.
- Expected to have a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- Must have VA EDW/CDW knowledge/experience.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree from an accredited institution in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a technical degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience.
- Must have VA EDW/CDW knowledge/experience.
- Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in a related field (preferred).
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) (preferred).
- Strong experience in using SQL and data visualization tools (preferred).
- Experience working with federal public trust clearances (preferred).
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
