Dairy & Frozen Assistant Department Manager
About The Position
The Dairy & Frozen Assistant Department Manager is a full-time, working-manager role at Stauffers of Kissel Hill’s Lititz Pike Fresh Foods. The position requires flexible availability for day, evening, and weekend work. The assistant manager supports the smooth operation of the division, performs departmental tasks, and is prepared to assume the Department Manager’s responsibilities when necessary. Duties include coordinating invoices and transfers, maintaining equipment, merchandising, training and assigning team members, scheduling, checking pricing, conducting inventories, and supporting ordering.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be regularly able to work in or around coolers, where exposed to cold temperatures.
- Must have flexible day, evening, and weekend availability.
Responsibilities
- Be ready and able to assume the Department Manager’s job responsibilities when necessary.
- Coordinate vendor invoices, SKH invoices, and inter-company transfers daily to ensure timely billing.
- Function as a working manager and perform tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the division.
- Maintain and operate departmental equipment.
- Develop merchandising game plans and plan-o-grams in conjunction with the Buying team.
- Train team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge, and job duties to support productive and safe work.
- Assign duties to team members and schedule break periods, work hours, and vacations based on business needs and upcoming store events.
- Understand retail label systems and communicate with Scan, General Management, and/or Buying teams to ensure correct pricing.
- Supervise and perform departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
- Communicate with Buying and GM teams about merchandising, new product implementation, and appropriate pricing, and promptly follow directions.
- Use knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to assist with ordering supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
