About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Customer Service Representative with VMI in Longview, Texas. This role combines customer service with operational support in an industrial retail environment. The representative partners with customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other supplies; helps customers identify useful tools, hardware, and materials; and supports deliveries using company vehicles. The role also supports branch operations and customer inventory programs, including vending machines and storerooms. The position is Monday through Friday, with no weekend work. Occasional overtime may be needed to support deliveries or branch colleagues. Airgas provides PPE and offers hourly pay with bonus opportunities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is sought.
Ideally, two to five years of experience in industrial retail, inside sales, customer service, inventory control, or a related environment.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to multitask.
Valid driver's license from the state of residence and demonstrated safe driving skills; candidates must be at least 18 years old and will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report.
Commitment to working in a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

Experience with SAP or similar systems.
Intermediate skills in the Google Platform.
At least one year of familiarity with arc and gas welding.
Experience coordinating a changing flow of paperwork accurately and on time, often with self-directed initiative.
Ability to build alignment and communicate clearly with customers and branch colleagues by phone, email, or in person.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime to support deliveries or branch colleagues.
Comfort working around industrial elements such as noise, vibrations, equipment, and moving machinery on varying layouts.

Responsibilities

Welcome and assist walk-in and telephone customers, identify their product needs, and locate merchandise.
Complete and file paperwork in a timely and accurate manner to document sales, quotes, and other important information.
Enter sales and quote data into the computer system and research information to help customers.
Process customer payments and enter sales data into the computer.
Organize and restock merchandise, arrange items on shelves or racks, and mark or ticket items.
Maintain showroom cleanliness and presentation according to management procedures.
Coordinate delivery and replenishment of industrial products, vending machines, and storeroom items.
Monitor and maintain dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.
Track and submit delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.
Deliver and replenish products, vending machine supplies, and storeroom items at customer locations.
Perform basic troubleshooting and light repairs on mechanical vending systems.
Review and coordinate manual stock levels across plant departments to support timely reorders.
Move materials weighing up to 60 pounds and transport loads up to 125 pounds using provided material-handling equipment.
