About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a friendly, motivated Customer Service Representative to provide customer service at a U-Haul center. The position works as part of a supportive team, assists customers with U-Haul products and services, and helps ensure equipment is inspected and maintained. The representative also uses current technology to dispatch and return equipment. On-the-job education is provided, including ongoing learning through U-Haul University and U-Haul-offered certifications for propane filling and forklift operation. The position is located at 3250 Clear Lake Rd, Springfield, Illinois 62702. Compensation is $15.00 to $16.00 per hour. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. U-Haul advertises two paid hands-on working interviews, a $100 hiring bonus, and a $300 cash bonus upon completion of Equipment Inspection and Verification through its 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores. Hiring is subject to the stated nicotine-user policy in certain states.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
Answer customer questions and educate customers about products and services.
Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental.
Install hitches and trailer wiring.
Fill propane; certification is offered through U-Haul upon employment.
Drive a forklift; certification is offered through U-Haul upon employment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
