About The Position

Join the Department of Transportation as a Clerical Assistant 3 and play a key role in supporting the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Care Center. This position provides customer service and information to the public on a wide range of Driver and Vehicle Services topics. Requirements

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title) or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Criminal history reports required for conditional offer of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Willing and able to travel to Harrisburg for a minimum of 6 weeks for training and orientation (Travel expenses will be paid.)
  • Experience using a PC or laptop
  • Experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Prior call center experience
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Bilingual

Responsibilities

  • Respond to public inquiries on driver licensing, vehicle services, REAL ID, and related topics
  • Analyze records and reference materials to provide accurate and understandable guidance
  • Determine appropriate actions and communicate solutions based on policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Prepare clear email responses and process electronic correspondence using proper grammar and tone
  • Update licensing and vehicle records and issue credentials or documents when required
  • Recognize potential system or communication errors and notify supervisors when needed
