About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a friendly, motivated Customer Service Representative to assist customers and help maintain rental equipment at its Des Moines, Iowa location. The role is part of a supportive team and involves providing customer service, managing equipment rentals and returns with smartphone-based technology, and inspecting and maintaining equipment. On-the-job education is offered, including ongoing training through U-Haul University. U-Haul advertises paid hands-on working interviews, a $100 hiring bonus, and a $300 cash bonus upon completion of Equipment Inspection and Verification through its 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The position requires a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a high school diploma or equivalent. The work involves moderate safety risks and physical activity, including moving equipment weighing at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance. U-Haul states that it will not hire or re-hire nicotine product users in Iowa and certain other listed states.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
Answer customer questions and explain products and services.
Prepare rental invoices and accept returned rental equipment.
Install hitches and trailer wiring.
Fill propane; U-Haul certification is offered upon employment.
Drive a forklift; U-Haul certification is offered upon employment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in ongoing education through U-Haul University.
