About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a friendly, motivated Customer Service / Lot Attendant to provide customer service and help inspect and maintain rental equipment. Working as part of a supportive team, this position assists customers with U-Haul products and services, uses technology to dispatch and return equipment, and offers on-the-job education. The role includes paid hands-on working interviews, a $100 hiring bonus, and a $300 cash bonus after completing U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The position is located at 2535 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50317.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be legally authorized to work and must not require employer sponsorship.
U-Haul will not hire or re-hire nicotine product users in Iowa.

Responsibilities

Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services.
Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental.
Install hitches and trailer wiring.
Fill propane; certification is offered through U-Haul upon employment.
Drive a forklift; certification is offered through U-Haul upon employment.
Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
Perform other duties as assigned.
