About The Position

The Customer Application Engineer owns global project control activity and drives consistent functional specifications and common global processes for project implementation. The role helps understand and meet customer expectations and is responsible for planning and executing departmental operations. It has some autonomy but focuses on execution within standard functional practices and procedures, with judgment exercised as needed and typically with guidance. The engineer provides technical expertise and develops solutions—including configuration, performance estimation, and economics—as part of the pre-ITO requisition process, working with the commercial team. The role applies understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value to support bid strategies. ITO work includes analyzing client needs; defining and optimizing products, scope, schedule, and industrial schemes; assessing costs in accordance with contract and internal policies; calculating plant, system, and equipment performance and efficiency; and documenting technical specifications and costing elements for contract execution. The role also includes OTR engineering work to customize products and implement them for specific customer needs. The position develops in-depth technical discipline knowledge and applies prior experience and technical expertise to execute policy and strategy. It requires understanding business drivers and how the team’s work integrates with other teams. The engineer may propose solutions beyond set parameters with guidance, uses technical and analytical skills to solve problems, and may consult multiple internal sources. The role is likely an individual contributor or an early people leader, and provides informal guidance to new team members.
