About The Position
The Custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned areas of the school building. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash, and sanitizing restrooms and other facilities. The Custodian ensures that the school environment is clean, safe, and sanitary for students, staff, and visitors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors.
- Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
- Wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
- Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas.
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
