About The Position

Emory University Campus Services is hiring a Custodian I to perform custodial duties, including general cleaning, trash removal, light floor care, and event and room setups. The position is performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change the work status with notice to the employee. The scheduled shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Duties include cleaning assigned areas and floors, preparing spaces for events, replenishing supplies, removing trash and recyclables, and following safety and personal protective equipment requirements. The role may also involve hazardous-waste disposal and driving and inspecting fleet vehicles.

Requirements

Ability to understand and follow communicated instructions.
Native-level proficiency in English.
May require the ability to lift 50 pounds and bend, stoop, and twist.
Ability to walk up to 2 miles per day.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas, including furniture, telephones, fixtures, walls, windows, window sills, blinds, and vents.
Clean walkways, steps, and mats.
Clean floors using a vacuum, dust mop, or wet mop.
Use appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
Set up event spaces by arranging chairs, tables, podiums, and other furnishings according to a design layout.
Maintain adequate supplies in bathrooms and supply closets.
Collect and remove trash and recyclables.
May dispose of hazardous waste.
Follow all safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
May drive fleet vehicles and conduct daily inspections to ensure safe operation.
Perform other related duties as required.
