About The Position
Emory Campus Services is seeking a Custodian I to perform custodial duties, including general cleaning, trash removal, light floor care, and event or room setup. The work is performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. The scheduled shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow communicated instructions.
- Native-level proficiency in English.
- May require the ability to lift 50 pounds and bend, stoop, and twist.
- Ability to walk up to 2 miles per day.
Responsibilities
- Clean assigned areas, including furniture, telephones, fixtures, walls, windows, window sills, blinds, and vents.
- Clean walkways, steps, and mats.
- Clean floors using a vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop.
- Use appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
- Arrange chairs, tables, podiums, and other furnishings for events according to a design layout.
- Maintain adequate supplies in bathrooms and supply closets.
- Collect and remove trash and recyclables.
- May dispose of hazardous waste while following safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
- May drive fleet vehicles and perform daily inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Perform other related duties as required.
