About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains assigned areas throughout college facilities, including classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gymnasiums, and amphitheaters. Duties include removing trash, cleaning boards and erasers, cleaning glass and chrome, mopping and vacuuming floors, and performing floor maintenance such as shampooing, stripping, waxing, and buffing. The position also involves securing doors and turning off lights. The schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The custodian may need to drive college vehicles and report to other college locations.

Requirements

• Six months of recent and verifiable custodial building-cleaning and floor-maintenance experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, stretch, push, pull, reach, and lift throughout the workday, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• Ability to work with exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Computer knowledge to clock in and out and view personnel-related information.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and remove trash from assigned areas, including classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms, theatres, and other directed areas.
• Clean chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers daily.
• Turn off lights and secure doors.
• Clean glass, chrome, and exits in designated college facilities.
• Damp- and wet-mop vinyl and tile floors.
• Vacuum floors and carpets.
• Perform assigned floor maintenance, including vacuuming, shampooing, stripping and waxing, and buffing.
