About The Position

The Custodian I performs routine cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of the facility, maintains supplies, and inspects the building for needed repairs. The position is located at the Durbin Feeling Language Center. For Food Distribution only, the role travels to stores to perform specialty cleaning, including waxing and stripping floors and shampooing carpets.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess the skills to make small routine repairs to the structure.
For Food Distribution only: Must possess a valid driver's license and have a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets Cherokee Nation underwriting rating requirements.

Responsibilities

Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, trim, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, and other work areas.
Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Dust furniture and equipment and polish metalwork.
Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays, and transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
Replenish bathroom supplies and replace light bulbs.
Transport small equipment or tools between departments.
Set up tables and chairs in an auditorium or hall.
Keep the supply room orderly by placing articles in assigned areas.
Inspect and dispose of litter from the grounds.
Inform the supervisor of supply shortages and pick up supplies as instructed.
Routinely inspect the structure for needed repairs and report findings to the supervisor.
Make small routine repairs to the structure.
For Food Distribution only, travel to stores to perform specialty cleaning, such as waxing and stripping floors and shampooing carpets.
