About The Position

The Custodian and Cart Attendant performs general maintenance and cleaning duties to maintain high standards of safety and sanitation for members and team members. The role includes gathering and returning carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance, keeping carts clean and in working order, and maintaining the cleanliness of the club’s interior and exterior. The position also involves operating cleaning and waste-handling equipment, restocking supplies, performing minor building repairs, and supporting other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• Successfully complete required training and certification processes.
• Must be over 18 to operate equipment and enter age-restricted areas.
• May be less than 18 years of age to perform parking lot cart functions.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may require assistance.
• Use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.
• Meet the physical and environmental demands of frequent movement, bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, stooping, and ladder or step-stool use; exposure includes authorized cleaning agents, occasional paint and authorized chemicals, and indoor and outdoor temperatures, including occasional freezer and cooler extremes.

Nice To Haves

• Prior maintenance or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.
• Prior retail or wholesale experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide members with prompt, courteous service and assistance while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the club, including the sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
• Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance; remove trash and debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior.
• Ensure carts are well-stocked at the entrance, clean, and in working order; remove unsuitable carts from use.
• Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks, including wet and dry mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
• Maintain outdoor grounds, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
• Prioritize maintenance and cleaning tasks efficiently across the club.
• Safely operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler according to established safety standards.
• Restock maintenance and cleaning supplies and keep receiving dock supply areas and maintenance closets clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management when major repairs may be needed.
• Follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
