About The Position
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a motivated and reliable Custodial Worker 1 to join the team at Norristown State Hospital. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by performing daily cleaning and upkeep tasks, supporting high standards of health, safety, and comfort for patients, staff, and visitors.
Requirements
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities
- Dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors and clean baseboards in assigned areas.
- Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, lavatories, and window sills.
- Perform terminal cleaning of beds, cabinets, lockers, and related items.
- Gather and remove trash and properly handle infectious waste.
- Replace light bulbs, clean carpets, wash windows, and maintain equipment.
- Sweep walkways, shovel snow, and prepare spaces for special events.
