Culinary Farmer

THE UMSTEAD HOTEL & SPA•Cary, NC
•$19 - $0•Onsite

About The Position

One Oak Farm produces naturally grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs using organic practices that prioritize soil health and ecological diversity. Because the farm minimizes tillage, the work relies extensively on hand tools. The farm offers an opportunity to develop a close relationship with the soil, plants, and broader farm ecology. The work is highly physical and often repetitive, and takes place outdoors in summer heat and winter cold. The Culinary Farmer works as part of a small team and participates directly in all aspects of the farming operation. Tasks vary by day and season and include greenhouse propagation, produce harvesting and delivery, crop care, and general landscape maintenance. The role may also assist with onboarding and training new team members and hosting farm visitors. Work is routine in nature, requires close attention to detail, and is performed under close supervision with detailed instructions. The employee may work independently on assigned tasks and is expected to be dependable, use observations to make informed field decisions, and make appropriate judgment calls. This is a full-time, AM/day-shift position at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, North Carolina. The stated pay is $19.00 per hour.
