About The Position

The Farmer 2 performs a variety of assignments in the care of large animal species and facilities within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This is a full-time, permanent, 12-month position located in Pullman, Washington, with a scheduled workday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Holiday and weekend shifts may occasionally be required, and the position is eligible for overtime. The monthly salary range is $3,403 to $4,517. Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the range and receive scheduled salary increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. The role is in VTH Facilities Care within Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. A background check is required. The position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.

Requirements

Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock, or equivalent education/experience.
Must have, or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Must be available for morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with and caring for equine, bovine, camelid, ovine, and caprine species.
Experience following biosecurity protocols.
Experience hauling large animals.
Experience using farm equipment, including trucks with manual and automatic transmissions, truck and trailer, manure compactor, skid steer front-end loader, tractor, gator, animal dump truck, and sweeper equipment.
Experience in general maintenance and repair using basic hand tools.
Experience using light power equipment.
