CROSS TRAINED ASSISTANT - FT - 6:30a-5:00pm
About The Position
Oklahoma Surgical Hospital is seeking a full-time Surgery Cross Trained Assistant for its surgical services area. This safety-sensitive position is a competent paraprofessional role that supports registered nurses and/or anesthesia providers by taking responsibility for direct and indirect patient care under their direction and supervision. The assistant may help with patient activities and comfort measures, maintain a safe and clean environment, and support nursing and medical staff in achieving optimum patient outcomes. The role also includes housekeeping, transportation, and courier duties for the surgical services area. The assistant is cross-trained to perform both Patient Care Technician and Anesthesia Technician duties within the operating room. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends or holidays required. The position qualifies for the full-time benefits package and quarterly bonuses. OSH describes the role as safety-sensitive under Oklahoma law.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- BLS certification required upon hire.
- Previous Patient Care Technician and Anesthesia Technician experience.
- Must be comfortable working in a surgical environment and able to tolerate exposure to blood, bodily fluids, surgical procedures, and other potentially unpleasant sights or smells.
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and move patients, beds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform both Patient Care Technician and Anesthesia Technician duties within the operating room.
- Assist with patient positioning and transfers.
- Assist with operating room turnover and anesthesia turnover.
- Transport specimens.
- Stock supplies.
- Assist registered nurses and/or anesthesia providers with direct and indirect patient care under their direction and supervision.
- Assist with patient activities and comfort measures.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Perform housekeeping, transportation, and courier duties for the surgical services area.
