About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 1/2 position for Wildwood Correction Center (WCC) located in Kenai, Alaska. This role involves managing all incoming and outgoing inmate property, maintaining meticulous records, investigating property allegations, managing abandoned property, and assisting with inmate records. The mission of Wildwood Correctional Complex is to provide a secure environment for staff and offenders that promotes public safety and provides an opportunity for staff development, and reformative offender programming to ensure safety and efficient resources management. Responsibilities

  • Manage all incoming and outgoing inmate property, including organization of the secured property rooms and regular inventory duties.
  • Maintains meticulous records, including both computerized and hard copies and thoroughly scrutinizing all property for potential contraband.
  • Investigate allegations of lost or damaged property, which includes gathering documentation on inmate’s movement history, current inventories, commissary orders, transfer receipts and contacting other facilities for relevant documentation.
  • Manage abandoned or excess property to include mailing or disposing of property according to the Department policies.
  • Assist with the maintenance of inmate records such as court judgments, booking records, classifications or disciplinary paperwork.
