About The Position

At barre3, the Creative Lead will help advance the company’s mission to redefine success in fitness through an evidence-based, mindful practice. This hands-on leadership role serves as the primary storyteller and visual guide for the brand, positioning clients as the heroes of the narrative and using design, tone, and digital creative to reach them throughout their journey. The role reports to the VP of Growth Marketing & Digital, and the primary residence must be in the greater Portland area. The Creative Lead balances elevated brand presentation with data-driven performance. The role guides visual and narrative expression across consumer, digital, environmental, retail, and franchise touchpoints; develops high-converting performance creative and modular testing systems; supports studio owners with practical local marketing resources; and leads a creative team and its workflows. Success is measured through performance creative results, production cadence, retail conversion, franchise adoption, and brand consistency.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of hands-on art direction, brand design, and creative production experience.
  • At least 2+ years managing creative talent.
  • A player-coach approach, with the ability and interest to work strategically while remaining involved in design execution, video editing, and copy refinement.
  • Experience running iterative creative testing pipelines in partnership with performance marketers.
  • Fluency in conversion design and mobile video trends.
  • Experience directing on-figure apparel shoots and translating physical retail products into compelling digital and in-studio demand.
  • Ability to design intuitive, turnkey tools and templates that non-designers in a franchise network can implement.
  • Alignment with barre3’s philosophy of mindful movement, balanced well-being, and redefining success in fitness.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and basic Premiere/After Effects skills.
  • Primary residence in the greater Portland area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-to-day visual and narrative guide across consumer, digital, environmental, and franchise touchpoints, maintaining barre3’s aesthetic standards.
  • Ensure creative work positions the client as the hero and barre3 as an expert partner, reinforcing whole-body fitness, guided support, and sustainable practice.
  • Maintain and evolve typography standards, layout principles, and channel color palettes across studios, digital platforms, and marketing channels.
  • Guide the physical expression of the brand through studio layouts, material palettes, environmental graphics, and wayfinding.
  • Guide retail visual direction, including seasonal product and lifestyle shoots and assets supporting e-commerce sales and studio boutique discovery.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing to concept, design, and deliver creative for Meta, Google/YouTube, OTT, web landing pages, and CRM.
  • Develop modular creative systems for rapid A/B testing, varying hooks, angles, typography callouts, aspect ratios, and calls to action.
  • Build and lead an always-on creative testing pipeline with protected weekly capacity, collaborating with Growth Marketing to develop, launch, and iterate creative on a predictable sprint cadence independent of longer-lead brand campaigns.
  • Direct shoot lists, capture styles, and pacing for rapid video iteration across short- and long-form formats.
  • Create local marketing toolkits, digital asset management libraries, and self-serve templates such as Canva or Figma resources for franchise studio owners.
  • Ensure local marketing assets are simple to deploy, cost-effective to produce locally, and designed to support trial bookings and member retention.
  • Manage, guide, mentor, and inspire in-house designers, videographers, copywriters, and freelance specialists.
  • Balance sprint capacity, improve brief-to-delivery workflows, and remove bottlenecks while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with Product and Operations to align visual and narrative expression across classes, physical environments, digital apps, and brand experiences.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in paid growth performance, including hook rates, click-through rates, landing-page conversion rates, and acquisition efficiency.
  • Provide consistent, on-time creative delivery across bi-weekly growth sprints, retail launches, and seasonal franchise campaigns.
  • Create storytelling and assets that support apparel and product sales across online and brick-and-mortar channels.
  • Encourage franchise adoption of local marketing toolkits and maintain brand alignment across studio locations.
  • Maintain consistent visual execution across digital, environmental, and retail touchpoints.
