About The Position

Courtesy Clerks help create the Hy-Vee customer experience by assisting customers from the register to their cars and keeping the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. The role includes packaging purchases, assisting customers, maintaining the store, and helping wherever needed. It is suited to someone who enjoys staying active, helping people, and taking pride in a well-maintained store. Night and weekend shifts are required. No education or experience is required; training is provided. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team.
• No education or experience requirements.
• Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit positive.
• Package customer purchases and help customers transport them to their mode of transportation.
• Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
• Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom; sweep and mop floors as needed.
• Clean the can redemption area and empty recycling bins where applicable.
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and know merchandise locations in the store and backroom.
• Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
• Check product prices as needed.
• Maintain front-end supplies, including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items.
• Help train new courtesy clerks.
• Deliver products to customers and assist in other departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
• Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
