About The Position

The Department of Political Science at McGill University is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach POLI 342-001, Canadian Foreign Policy, in Fall 2026. This course covers the development and articulation of Canadian foreign policy, including theoretical approaches, historical perspectives, and Canada's role in global society. The position is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 08:35 am to 09:55 am, running from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026, and will be located at ENGMD 279. Requirements

  • A completed PhD degree or enrolled in a doctoral program in Political Science or a discipline related to the course.
  • Provide evidence of effective teaching ability as a result of having successfully taught a similar course.
  • The candidate's area of specialization must be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based/located.
  • Proficiency in English communication, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach POLI 342-001 Canadian Foreign Policy (3 Credits - CAP 80) in Fall 2026.
  • Develop and articulate Canadian foreign policy concepts.
  • Engage with theoretical approaches, historical perspectives, and global linkages relevant to Canadian foreign policy.

Benefits

  • Salary: $11,824 per course.
