About The Position

The Department of Political Science at McGill University is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach POLI 448-001, Gender and International Relations, in Fall 2026. This course aims to enhance students' understanding of international relations through a gender analysis of global politics and feminist approaches. The curriculum is divided into two parts: the first focuses on gender-sensitive and feminist theories in international relations research, and the second applies these theories to various issues such as security, violence, peacebuilding, international law, and political economy. The position is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 01:05 pm to 02:25 pm, running from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026. The salary for this course is $11,824.

Requirements

  • A completed PhD degree or enrollment in a doctoral program in Political Science or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of effective teaching ability, demonstrated by successful teaching of a similar course.
  • Candidate's area of specialization must be as close as possible to the course being offered.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.
