About The Position

The Department of Political Science at McGill University is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach POLI 325-001, U.S. Politics, in Fall 2026. This course examines the founding of the American political system, focusing on key documents, the Constitutional Convention, and the Federalist Papers, as well as the development of the constitutional system. It will also cover political thought, federalism, and the main institutions: the presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court. The position is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 08:35 am to 09:55 am, from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026, at RPHYS 112. Requirements

A completed PhD degree or enrollment in a doctoral program in Political Science or a related discipline.
Evidence of effective teaching ability, demonstrated by successful teaching of a similar course.
Candidate's area of specialization must be as close as possible to the course being offered.
Must be authorized to work in Canada.
Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
Proficiency in English communication, both verbally and in writing.

Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Responsibilities

Teach POLI 325-001 U.S. Politics (3 Credits - CAP 155) in Fall 2026.
Deliver lectures on the founding of the American political system, including major documents, the Constitutional Convention, and the Federalist Papers.
Examine the development of the constitutional system, political thought, and federalism.
Discuss the main institutions, including the presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court.
