About The Position

The Department of Economics at McGill University is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach ECON 314-001, Economic Development 2, in Fall 2026. This course covers macroeconomic development issues, including theories of growth, public finance, debt, currency crises, corruption, structural adjustment, democracy, and global economic organization. The position is located at MAASS 217 and is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:05 am to 11:25 am, from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026. Requirements

  • Doctoral level study in Economics, including completed comprehensive examinations for the PhD, or completed PhD degree in Economics.
  • Evidence of highly effective teaching ability or of superior communications skills and potential for teaching excellence.
  • The candidate's area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec.
  • Must possess English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ECON 314-001 Economic Development 2 (3 Credits – CAP 86) in Fall 2026.
  • Cover macroeconomic development issues, including theories of growth, public finance, debt, currency crises, corruption, structural adjustment, democracy and global economic organization.

Benefits

  • Salary: $11,824 per course.
