About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Course Coordinator for CHYS 2P52 Winter D3. This position reports to the Department Chair or Course Instructor and is governed by Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The role involves overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating Teaching Assistants, assisting with marking schemes and coordinating the marking of assignments and exams, and performing other related duties as assigned by the course instructor. Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 2P52 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher. Previous successful experience as a Course Coordinator for CHYS 2P52 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous course coordination experience (particularly with a large course) will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course
  • Coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them
  • Assisting in the preparation of marking schemes and coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams
  • Performing any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor
