About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for a Course Coordinator (RECL2P16 Outdoor Recreation Theory and Practices I) within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. This position is paid according to the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour. Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. The role involves overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating Teaching Assistants, assisting in the preparation of marking schemes, and coordinating the marking of assignments and exams.

Requirements

  • Broad experience in Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Previous experience in demonstrating laboratories
  • Previous experience in supervising other demonstrators
  • Must have a(n) RECL
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to assign duties to demonstrators
  • Ability to troubleshoot in the laboratory setting
  • Ability to detect potential hazards
  • Ability and skills to rapidly and appropriately deal with problems as they occur

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course
  • Coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them
  • Assisting in the preparation of marking schemes
  • Coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams
  • Any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor
