About The Position
Operates company vehicles and provides courteous and efficient delivery and pickup of packages; checks shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service; provides coverage for all assigned routes within the station's service area; and performs related customer service functions. Performs other duties as assigned. The position requires a neat appearance because customer contact is required. The employee must meet and maintain qualifications outlined in federal motor carrier safety regulations and pass a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations. Employees operating company vehicles must meet the requirements in company policy 4-48, hold a valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle, and maintain a good driving record. This is a non-covered safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and maneuver packages weighing more than 50 lbs with appropriate equipment or assistance from another person.
- Good human relations and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability, dependability, and excellent courier methods.
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
- Must meet and maintain qualifications outlined in federal motor carrier safety regulations and complete a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with state requirements for the assigned vehicle type and have a good driving record as outlined in company policy.
- Ability to remain constantly alert and work safely.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of courier experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the station's service area preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate area knowledge.
