About The Position

The Rusk County Clerk’s Office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual for the position of Deputy I / Administrative Support. In this vital role, you will support the day-to-day operations of the County Clerk's office by assisting with tasks such as dog license distribution, receipting counter payments, election data entry, and more. As part of our team, you’ll handle a variety of administrative tasks, help maintain important public records and work directly with the community. Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field and/or equivalent of four years work experience in office and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and software programs including spreadsheets, word processing and accounting programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with public and co-workers while answering questions and operating in a potentially stressful situation.
  • Ability to follow existing procedures and instructions and to perform in terms of results expected, due dates and the like, as well as, learn new procedures.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team for smooth operation of the office.
  • Ability to follow and understand oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare utility billing for payment.
  • Data entry for preparation of marriage licenses.
  • Complete and maintain timber cutting permit records and mail to DNR on a monthly basis.
  • Receipt counter payments for marriage and dog licenses, copies, rents, supply purchases, etc.
  • Deposit office receipts and reconcile cash drawer.
  • Monitor postal meter maintenance and supplies.
  • Record monthly postage meter billing by department.
  • Assist the public at the counter and answer any phone calls.
  • Maintain dog licensing by completing counter sales, preparing and processing legal notices, reconciling with municipalities, distributing tags and forms to municipalities, data entry and preparing the annual state report.
  • Assist in compiling election materials and work election evenings when needed to record results.
  • Assist in securing and maintaining post-election materials such as ballots, voting machines, data cartridges, etc.
  • Assist with posting of meeting agendas.
  • Assist with preparation for publication of the updated County Directory.
  • Maintain all county department files of meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Maintain the Rusk County Website.
  • Provide administrative support to other offices as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned by the County Clerk.
