About The Position

Sid Harvey’s, an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment and products, is seeking a full-time HVAC Counter Sales employee for its Medford, New York location. The role provides customer service and support at the counter, including assisting with purchases, processing orders, answering questions, and providing product information. It also generates sales through add-on selling and upselling, while completing responsibilities safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Requirements

• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
• Regularly stand, walk, carry, and reach.
• Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Regularly talk or hear and read and identify numbers accurately for order filling, receiving materials, and payment processing.
• Apply sound reasoning and logic when performing daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Promptly assist customers at the counter by asking pertinent questions, providing information, taking orders, and delivering excellent customer service.
• Conduct oneself professionally and ethically, treating customers and associates courteously and respectfully.
• Promote MITCO and Sid Harvey manufactured and remanufactured products to support customer upselling.
• Use the computer system to enter and retrieve information, including customer orders, branch transfers, quotations, inventory, and pricing.
• Follow up on customer orders, resolve problems to customer satisfaction, respond promptly, and notify the Branch Manager of missed sales opportunities or unavailable merchandise.
• Answer telephones professionally, assist customers, take orders, and provide customer service.
• Provide product and job quotes as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Sid Harvey air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating products to meet customer needs.
• Continuously update product knowledge, stay informed about inventory and product applicability, and learn merchandise locations in the warehouse.
• Communicate relevant policies and procedures concerning purchases, returns, and credit terms to customers.
• Help maintain the appearance of the branch, including straightening and cleaning the counter area, warehouse, and bathrooms.
• Report back orders and material discrepancies.
• Perform cycle counts accurately as required.
• Follow safety rules, perform duties safely, and inform the manager of potentially hazardous conditions.
• Assist with year-end physical inventories as requested.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.
