About The Position

Hog Slat, Incorporated is seeking a Counter Sales Representative for its retail location in Union City, Ohio. The company provides parts, equipment, and turnkey construction to the swine and poultry industries. The role serves retail customers in person and by phone, helps customers identify appropriate parts and equipment, and supports store operations, inventory management, and product promotion. Candidates should have experience or knowledge related to hog farming, customer service skills, and mechanical aptitude.

Requirements

• Previous hog farming industry experience is sought.
• Knowledge of the farming industry.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification and use a forklift regularly.
• Understanding of email and Microsoft Office products for daily tasks.
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• At least one year working in a modern hog farming operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local hog industry and hog producers in the area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with retail customers in-store and over the phone to understand their needs.
• Recommend parts and equipment that address customers’ needs.
• Educate customers about new products and special promotions and promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products.
• Operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and use computer operating systems.
• Assist with inventory management, including unloading the stock truck with a forklift, shelving products, and performing cycle counts.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly store.
• Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled store hours.
• Take advantage of training offered by the company and its vendors.
• Continually upgrade industry knowledge.
