Requirements

• One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant.
• Possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11.
• Possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate treatment systems under normal and emergency conditions to maintain safe performance
• Inspect, clean, and service plant equipment and make minor repairs to ensure proper function
• Perform water chemistry tests and maintain accurate logs and records in line with regulatory requirements
• Complete paperwork, track inventories, submit purchase requests, and communicate needs to supervisors
• Oversee inmate workers, maintain tool and supply control, and ensure safety and compliance during work activities
