About The Position
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer and take the lead in running one of the facility’s most essential operations. Requirements
- One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C, Subclass 8, 9, and 11.
- Possession of a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain treatment plant operations under normal and emergency conditions, and manage control systems
- Operate, service, and repair pumps, motors, compressors, filters, and related equipment
- Conduct chemical tests, track results, and maintain logs and supply inventories
- Complete paperwork, review concerns, request materials, and manage plant housekeeping tasks
- Direct inmate workers, monitor movement, and ensure security procedures are followed
- Conduct searches, maintain tool tracking, and follow regulations for hazardous materials
